Take note – Parent Visa Fee Confusion!

On the 1^st of September 2013, the Department of Immigration increased visa application charges for most visa applications, including parent visa applications.

It was published in Schedule 1 of the Migration Regulations that the new Second Instalment fee for the subclass 143 Contributory Parent visa would be $48,550.00 as of September 1, however the visa pricing table available on the DIAC website still advertises $42,220.00 as the Second Instalment fee.

We have now been advised by the Department that the lower fee of $42,220.00 remains in force as DIAC intended to raise the fee to the higher figure but this was found to be in excess of what was allowed by the Migration (Visa Application) Charge Act, 1997.
